This past Friday night I attended a fabulous event which is all cause of SHAC. SHAC is the Student Honors Advisory Committee. SHAC became a John Carroll student organization approximately two years ago with the help of honors program students. SHAC is designed to further integrate honors program students, both on and off campus. The objective of SHAC is to form a sense of community amongst honors program students, to form ties between peers. Furthermore, it is designed to introduce the greater Cleveland area to the students of John Carroll's honors program. Through participation in SHAC events, students are encouraged to interact with each other and to absorb the unique cultural aspects which Cleveland has to offer.
SHAC sponsors an event every Friday and Saturday night throughout the semester and transportation as well as activity fees are usually supplied by the honors program. A vast number of events have been held throughout the semester thus far, and I recently received the opportunity to participate in one such activity. Friday night I traveled to nearby Tremont to experience its famous Art Walk as well as its delicious dining. The Art Walk consisted of visiting several open art galleries as well as witnessing art work present on sidewalks and buildings. The evening commenced with a trip to the Southside Restaurant for dinner. Myself, as well as seven other students, dined for free at this swanky, hip restaurant hidden amongst the eclectic streets of Tremont. It was a wonderful experience to meet new people and experience Cleveland. I can't wait to see what SHAC has in store for me next!
Until next time,
