Since this is my first post I will take a couple of sentences to tell you who I am. My name is Meghan and I'm a senior at Carroll this year double majoring in biochemistry and cell & molecular biology. I already am accepted to medical school at the University to Toledo, so I am living up and enjoying every minute of senior year (while still making sure I keep my grades up, obviously). I am involved in way too many student organizations and have 2 jobs on campus. Most importantly, however, I have loved every second of my time at Carroll.
Now, onto more important topics - like homecoming! Homecoming week at Carroll is probably one of my favorites. Being a senior, I took advantage of every single homecoming activity. On Wednesday was the Price is Right JCU style game show where one of my friends won the showcase containing a mini fridge, futon, refrigerator, etc. Thursday night was the Trippin' Billies Concert in Kulas Auditorium and the Pep Rally on Keller Commons. Friday night after my friend made us a "family dinner" we went to the bonfire on the Quad and the Late Night Breakfast in the dining hall. And then Saturday morning I was up early for a Blue Streak Preview Day, but my friends ran in the Footprints for Fatima 5K. Saturday we also had the Street Fair where I got JCU silly bandz, the football game where my friend Andrew became Homecoming King, and then the best part of the week, the dance!
This year the dance was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There was a dance floor on the main level, but they also kept the exhibits open. After some dancing, my friends and I took some time to go see some of the exhibits including Michael Jackson's sequined glove, ZZ Top's drum set, and the Bruce Springsteen exhibit. We then proceeded to dance the night away. It was an amazing night!
A lot of alumni also came back yesterday for the street fair and the game. (The Blue Streaks defeated Marietta 28-14! Go Streaks!) It was fun to see recent alumni who I still keep in touch with, as well as older alumni who bring their kids to the street fair. Overall, it was a great kickoff to senior year (or freshman, sophomore, and junior years if you're younger than I am). Carroll homecoming is just a fabulous time for everyone involved.
So if you're a senior in high school and your homecoming is coming up, make sure you enjoy it. But if you decide Carroll is the right fit for you, get excited for Homecoming 2011. I won't be here, so have a little extra fun for me! (and maybe win something at the game show...).
Enjoy the season change to fall. Carroll is beautiful with all the leaves changing colors, so if you get a chance, stop by!
Until next time,
