For those of you reading this who will be entering their senior year in just six short weeks, congratulations! Junior year was, at least for me, the year of highest expectations, full of those wonderful things like standardized testing. The ACT or SAT certainly isn’t an activity that you look forward to hoping that it will fulfill an exciting and memorable Saturday morning! For those of you who might be younger, congratulations as well! For you are starting a wonderfully exciting, yet stressful experience searching for the best college or university for you!
As your summer flies by, full of sleeping in after staying up too late, and hopefully enjoying some time in the sun with your friends, remember that this is a great opportunity for you to get a head start on the college search! This summer, John Carroll has hosted two Saturday “picnics”, giving high school students an opportunity to explore John Carroll with a hot dog!
This past Saturday, we had over forty students who traveled from great distances to enjoy the beautiful weather during a tour of campus, they were given an opportunity to learn more about our university’s education, mission, and history, followed by hot dogs fresh from the grill and cupcakes that could easily suffice for three people. While I was talking to families this past weekend, I talked to a family who came from Florida, a mother-son combination that traveled on a one day trip from Chicago for a seven hour stint at John Carroll, and a student who wanted to become a herpetologist (a scientist that studies reptiles and amphibians).
These students took advantage of their time off and were able to experience one of the high lights of summer vacation while visiting John Carroll. If you realize that you have some free time and the desire you can come join me for a picnic July 17, August 7, or August 14 by visiting our website at https://jcu.edu.185r.net/Event/.
I hope to see you soon!
