First of all, Happy Autumn to everyone reading this. As a junior Economics student, I have been writing my entire life. In high school I was the editor for both my yearbook and newspaper. Writing this blog should be no big deal , so bear with me as I get the hang of things….
Looking out my window I see a rather dark sky clearly threatening to drop rain on us at any moment. But regardless of the impending rain, I realize exactly why fall is by far my favorite season. With the leaves just beginning to shed their vibrant green tint the campus is alive with beauty and the hustle and bustle of campus.
Homecoming Week is quickly approaching and I can’t wait! This year is my second year serving on the committee in charge of planning the week and my “baby” is the game show, a friendly spin on “Family Feud” that we have coined “Carroll Clash”. I love planning the event but it definitely can be a challenge to try to please an entire student body. Without a doubt, I guarantee, that this year is going to be the best Homecoming yet! Throughout the week we have a Pep Rally including a bon fire and a presentation of the sports teams, a concert with Josh Kelley, my Game Show, a late night breakfast, a street fair, the football game, and of course to culminate the week a dance at the Brown’s Stadium.
If you have never been to campus before, there are some amazing opportunities that will quickly be approaching. The Tim Russert Department of Communications and Theater Arts is having an Open House on October 2, the Boler School of Business is having an Open House (the day of Homecoming which is going to be fantastic) on October 10 (http://jcu.gotoextinguisher.com/Event/) and of course, I would encourage you all to come visit myself and my fellow tour guides to view our beautiful campus. You won’t be disappointed!
Thanks for the information, Christopher!
